Our Story: The Taste of Home

In 19XX, Korean born (name) immigrated to Australia to raise his family and live a more comfortable life. He worked in various jobs to make a living until one day he noticed that his Korean friends were having difficulty finding the type of foods that they had grown up eating and now wanted to put on the table for their own children.

In 19XX Shinmi Foods was founded to satisfy this craving for the flavours of home. Hwang started importing noodles and sauces into Australia from his Sydney warehouse, expanding into frozen, chilled and specialty ingredients requested by a growing hospitality market.

Over the past three decades Shinmi has organically grown as Australians have embraced the buzz of Korean popular culture. Tuning in to trends and preferences, Shinmi has continued to add exciting brands to our portfolio that meet the needs of our major supermarket and retail clients including Coles, Costco, IGA, and a growing hospitality sector.

Operating from our brand new, state-of-the-art and eco-friendly distribution centre in Sydney, Shinmi are now a premier importer of Korean foods into Australia with more than 1,000 local retailers.
